The masthead is at the top of the cover. It is red matching the colour of the artists clothing.

The cover lines are on both sides of the cover, the majority of the cover lines are just the name of the artist with a small summary of the article below it.

The artist is cut out and in front of the masthead. This is done so that the reader can focus more on the image of the artist rather than the masthead and name of the magazine.

The angle of gaze is unknown as the artist is wearing a mask, this goes well with the magazines genre as rock can sometimes be seen as scary and not being able to see the artists face may be deemed as scary.

The word that pulls the reader in and makes them want to purchase the magazine is ‘slipknot’,. This is because the magazine is aimed at rock and metal fans and it would be known to them that slipknot took a break, the large title would indicate a return, therefore pull the reader in.

The strip at the top of the magazine would entice readers as it is advertising free features within the magazine.

The fonts on this magazine seem to all be the same, except from the fact that some are in italics, this could highlight importance.

The colour scheme on this magazine is red, black and yellow. Red is most likely one of the colour schemes because the artist is wearing red, so the masthead and article titles are in red. Yellow is most likely used to make the magazine stand out on the shelves as black and red are dark colours.

The masthead is unusually small on this front cover. Its red at NME always has either red or white mastheads.

The artists image is quit large, cut out and in front of the masthead, this shows the artists importance in this issue as the image takes us most of the space on the front cover.

The words that pull the reader to the magazine are ‘Lily Allen takes on the world’. These are written extremely large across the page and are nearly as large as the artists image. This is a big story because at the time the artist was up and coming.

The strip at the top is quite large Which is common for rock magazines. The title has a puff word ‘new’ this would makeThe reader interested because this means ‘something different’And maybe interesting to the reader.

The angle of gaze is directly to the camera. This gives a connection from the artist directly to the reader. This is good because if the angle of gaze was elsewhere it will make the reader feel disconnected form the artist and at this point the artist was new.

The colour scheme for this cover is red, yellow and black. This colours are extremely popular amongst rock and metal magazines as black and red represents darkness ad fear and yellow causes the cover to stand out.
