  • First Battle of Bull RunThe First Battle of Bull Run, also known as the First Battle of Manassas, took place on July 21, 1861. First battle of the Civil War. General McDowell lead the Northern Troops General Beauregard lead the Southern Troops.

  • The Washingtonians were so sure the battle would be short, that they packed a picnic lunch to eat on the nearby hilltop.

    This poster Illustrates such a picnic, as well as, the flags of the North and South.
