Best Practices  Centralized (13) / Cluster kitchens run by UT Govt.  UT is providing Rs.6.15/day/child for cooking cost at Primary and Rs.4.23 /day/ Upper Primary level, which is more than mandatory share.  MDM is extended to the students studying up to pre primary and 9-12th.  UT administration implements the Rajiv Gandhi Break Fast scheme under which 100ml of milk and 35gm of biscuits are given to students.  Egg is given to students twice in a week. It has now been decided to provide eggs to students on all working days.  RO system with multiple water tap for hand washing.  Purchase of diet articles is made only through Govt. shops (Papsico).

ISSUES 1.Food grains and cooking cost data not entered in MIS web portal. 2.ATN on JRM recommendations and separate MME plan - not submitted. 3.Only 27% schools inspected. 4.Less utilization of FG and CC. 5.No utilization of Kitchen Shed funds 6.AWP&B not submitted through MIS web portal. ISSUES 7.The vehicle for transportation of cooked food to the schools should be properly covered and the containers should be properly closed for safe hygienic and secure delivery. (JRM). 8.Dedicated staff at all kitchen levels should be employed to feed information in GOI MIS web portal regularly. (JRM). 9.MDMS guidelines with respect to tasting of meal by the teachers needs to be followed (JRM). 10.Agmark or equivalent certification should be enforced for centralized procurement to the kitchens (JRM). 11.Awareness generation regarding MDMS including the contingency/Medical health Plans required (JRM). Comparison of data: MIS vs AWP&B Significant variation has been observed in enrolment MIS (84606) v/s AWP&B (66879). % Coverage of children is calculated on the basis of enrolment in AWP&B for comparison.
