The first laws were written in Mesopotamia. In Egypt the pharaohs built the pyramids. The Greeks were important for their political system (democracy),architecture,sculpture and literature. 3. THE MIDDLE AGES Important events in the Middle Ages were the Germanic invasions, the Carolingian Empire, Feudalism and the discovery of America. 4. LIVE IN THE MIDDLE AGES Society was divided into three groups: nobles, clergy and common people. People abandoned the cities and settled in the countryside.They became serfs of feudal lords.
